Many roles require HIAB certification as a minimum standard due to the responsibility involved in lifting and handling heavy loads.

A HIAB qualification helps you stand out in a competitive job market, increases your day-rate and earning potential, and gives you access to a wider range of driving roles. It also ensures you are trained to work safely, reduce the risk of accidents, and operate lifting equipment with confidence.

For drivers looking to expand their skillset and improve long-term job security, HIAB training is a practical investment with immediate career benefits.

About us

what hiab exams do i complete?

HIAB training does not involve a DVSA driving test. Instead, you’ll complete a practical assessment to demonstrate safe and competent operation of a vehicle-mounted crane.

During the assessment, you’ll be required to carry out a series of lifts, follow correct safety procedures, and show proper use of controls, load security, and pre-use equipment checks. An experienced instructor will assess your performance against recognised industry standards.

Once you successfully pass the assessment, you’ll be issued with a HIAB operator certificate, which is recognised by employers across the UK.
