who is the course for

who needs a C1 HGV Licence?

A C1 or C1E licence is ideal for drivers who need to operate medium-sized vehicles between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes as part of their job. It’s commonly required for ambulance drivers, paramedics, delivery drivers, removals work, tradespeople, and motorhome or horsebox owners. If your role involves carrying heavier loads than a standard car licence allows but doesn’t require full HGV training, C1 is often the perfect fit. The C1E licence is needed if you plan to tow a trailer over 750kg, making it suitable for specialist transport and commercial towing.

About our C1 course

How does C1 Training work with us?

Your C1 training journey starts with a dedicated training advisor who guides you through everything from day one, including your medical assessment, licence application forms, and any theory test support or bookings needed. Once the admin is taken care of, you’ll move into a structured 3-day practical training course designed to build confidence quickly and safely. You’ll train with experienced C1 instructors who focus on real-world driving, vehicle control, and test routes to prepare you properly for the practical exam. Throughout the course, we tailor the training to your ability level, ensuring you’re fully test-ready by the end and confident behind the wheel for your future driving role.

About us

How do the HGV Driving tests work for C1?

Your C1 driving test is split into two practical parts, both taken on the same day at a DVSA test centre. Module 3a is the off-road manoeuvres test, where you’ll demonstrate controlled reversing and a safety question. Module 3b is the on-road driving test, assessing your ability to drive safely, confidently and legally in real traffic conditions.

Before test day, your instructor will take you through the exact test routes, manoeuvres and marking criteria so there are no surprises. We only put you forward for test once you’re fully test-ready, and your training is structured to mirror the exam from day one. With focused tuition, mock tests and expert feedback, our goal is simple — to give you the confidence and ability to pass first time and start driving professionally straight away.
