How do the HGV Driving tests work for category c?

For Category C (Class 2), the practical driving test is split into two parts: Module 3a (off-road manoeuvres) and Module 3b (on-road driving). No previous HGV driving experience is required. As long as you hold a full UK car licence and meet the medical requirements, you can begin CAT C HGV training straight away.

Most CAT C HGV training courses take between 5 and 7 days once you have passed the theory test, depending on your experience and confidence behind the wheel. Your dedicated training advisor will recommend the best course length for you.

With a CAT C licence, you can work in roles such as multi-drop deliveries, pallet work, retail distribution, waste collection, and local or regional haulage. Many drivers start with Class 2 before upgrading to Class 1.
